At some Korean restaurants, you pay at the counter on your way out. You order at the table, enjoy your meal, and stop at the counter before leaving.
Restaurants with ordering tablets may work in either of two ways: you pay when you order, or after your meal.
Our contributor in Korea describes her usual routine: “If the tablet asks me to pay while ordering, I pay then. If there’s no payment step, I pay on my way out after eating.”
If you’re looking for the place to pay, you can ask “어디서 계산하면 돼요?” At the counter, “계산할게요” is a simple way to say you’d like to pay.
- 어디서 계산하면 돼요? — Where should I pay?
- 계산할게요. — I’d like to pay.
