About the curator

Real Korean products need real context.

Why this site exists

Korean products often travel online without the routines, environments, or cultural details that make them understandable. This site explains those missing details before linking to a product.

How products are selected

How evidence is labeled

Personally Used

Used only when the curator has directly used the product. This label is never inferred.

Seen in Korean Daily Life

Observed as part of ordinary Korean home, retail, work, school, transport, food, or beauty routines.

Trending in Korea

Used only when current attention can be reasonably supported without treating a niche as universal.

Research-Based Pick

Selected through research rather than personal product testing.

Exact products and Amazon alternatives

Each product is marked as an Exact Korean Product, Similar Product Available in the US, Korean-Style Alternative, or Inspired by a Korean Trend.

This is not the exact Korean listing, but it is the closest widely available alternative I found on Amazon US.

This notice appears whenever a US listing should not be mistaken for the exact Korean item.

How trends are reviewed

Trend products include a first-published date, a last-checked date, and a status such as Rising, Trending, Established, Everyday Standard, Fading, or Archive. Products that have not been reviewed recently can be marked Review Needed.

Affiliate links and independence

Closer to Korea may earn a commission from qualifying purchases. Affiliate eligibility does not determine whether a product is selected or how it is described. Price, stock, sellers, and product details can change.

Weekly updates

New products and guides are intended to be added every week. The product data is stored in one central JSON file so the curator can add or update a product without editing multiple pages.

Before public launch

Add the curator’s approved name or biography, direct-use history, monitored contact method, real domain, and verified Amazon Associates account details.
